Order Fulfillment Information Requirements
When a user purchases a product from Silver Me, we must collect certain personally identifiable information from them for billing purposes in order to complete their order. This information is collected through our Shopping Cart and requires contact information (such as email, name, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number and expiration date). If there is an issue in processing your order, we will use this information to contact you to resolve it. All of our credit card processing and product shipping is completed at our facilities in Pasadena, CA.
Other Information Inquiries
If a user utilizes our Email a Friend service for informing a friend about a product on our site, we ask them for the recipients name and email address. Silver Me only uses this information to automatically send the recipient a one time email inviting them to visit our site. We also offer Gift Certificates which can be deliverable via email on our website. The recipients email address is collected for a one-time use in order to deliver the gift certificate.
Communications from Silver Me Jewelry
Order confirmation emails are automatically sent to customers who place orders on our website. Additionally, new customers are sent a welcoming email that includes an initial password and username which can be used to access the personal information collected during their order placement and to view their order history. Customers can also view shipment tracking information. Established customers will occasionally receive information on new products, and special deals. Out of respect for the privacy of our visitors and customers, we always present the option to not receive these types of communications going forward.
User and Customer Opt-Out from Silver Me Communications
We give our users the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having promotional emails sent to them. Our Shopping Cart has an 'opt-out' mechanism so that any customer who buys a product from us, can elect to keep their email address off of our distribution list. Users who choose to subscribe to our list and no longer wish to receive our special offers or promotional communications may opt-out of receiving these communications by using the Unsubscribe link included in each communication we send or by emailing us at: marketing@silverme.com. Disclosure of Information
We do not disclose any personally identifiable information collected through the site except as disclosed in this statement or as required by law. Silver Me reserves the right to disclose to third parties aggregate usage statistics that does not contain personal information. Under no circumstances will Silver Me include personal information in any such disclosure. We always make every effort to preserve our user’s privacy, however, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with an appropriate law enforcement investigation, a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our website, or as required by law.
Log Files
All web servers create and utilize log files to some extent. Silver Me does not use intrusive log files, but does use ordinary web-logging to improve and assess the functionality of www.SilverMe.com. These log files track internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, referring/exit pages, platform types, date/time stamps, and the number of clicks to analyze trends and administer our site. We track user movement in the aggregate and gather general data about which pages are visited. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. We use a third-party tracking service called Google Analytics that utilizes tracking code on many of our pages in order to gather the data specified above.
Clear .GIF Images
Clear gifs are graphics which are not displayed and are used for statistical analysis. Clear gifs are present on our order confirmation page in order to gauge the effectiveness of our paid search engine advertising. We also use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by the recipients. This analysis allows us to have a better understanding of the efficacy of certain communications and marketing campaigns. Security of Collected Information
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information received by us, both during transmission and once it has been received. The security of your personal information is highly important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number) in our registration or order forms, we have it encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL). In addition, we purge all credit card data from our database and shred all hard copies every 30 days.
